BCTLA Summer Institute:
Dr Stephen Krashen and the Power of Reading
The BCTLA is pleased to present a Summer Institute on Reading, a day-long event that will be of great interest to all teachers BC educators will have an opportunity to explore the crosscurrents of discussion and the issues of reading, including the instructional, socio-political and psycho-cognitive aspects, as well as research findings.
In the afternoon, Kidsbooks will “booktalk” hot new titles which would be of interest to our English and ELL departments, as well as Special Education. They are hosting a late opening for Summer Institute attendees who wish to shop. Or you can join an informal discussion group with Dr Krashen, in particular to focus on the politics or reading and the profound effects of poverty on reading and thus learning.
Registrants are teachers, teacher-librarians, academics, administrators, and anti-poverty activists from BC and beyond.
